Simple and Healthy Pasta with Tomato Sauce (Makarona me Salcë)


  • 3/4 of the box Angel Hair multigrain pasta
  • 3-4 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp crushed pepper flakes
  • 1 small onion chopped semi-circled thinly
  • 4 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • tbsp chopped parley
  • 1 28 oz can of crushed tomato
  • 3 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • optional Parmesan or feta cheese
  • 1 cup of water


Heat olive oil in a deep-frying skillet, add onion and cook until they are softened on medium-low heat. Then add garlic, pepper flakes and saute for 30 seconds. Stir in a crushed tomato, tomato sauce and 1 cup of water, add salt and bring to a simmer for 7-10 minutes until you get a thick but not dry sauce. Meanwhile cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain the pasta and toss it in the deep skillet with the sauce. Add parsley and mix well. Serve with Parmesan or feta cheese.
